PIANO - Penetration and Interruption of Alpine Foehn
Which atmospheric processes control the breakthrough and interruption of foehn winds? How does foehn interact with cold air in Alpine valleys? In the PIANO research project we answer these questions based on measurements taken in the Inn Valley (Austria) and numerical simulations conducted on high performance computers. The project is funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF (P29746), the Weiss Science Foundation, EUFAR and the University of Innsbruck.
