- “Colloquia on Postsecular Conflicts” – Podium Discussion"Religion and Politics in (and across) Russia, Ukraine and the United States", Cyril Hovorun, R.R. Reno & Sergei Chapnin | 24 January 2017 In this podium discussion, three distinguished speakers will offer insights into religion and politics in the present day situation of their countries. Their discussion of religion and politics in Russia, Ukraine and the United States focuses on four questions. The first three addresses the national or domestic situation: How does religion influence politics? How do politics influence religion? And what are the consequences of religion-state relations for the religions themselves, where do the religious believers (“the grassroots”) stand? The fourth question addresses the international situation and the way in which religion determines relationships between Russia, Ukraine and the US.
