Dom-Ino house:
the meta-object

Maison Dom-Ino is still nowadays the most influential diagram produced in architecture. It emerges in a very specific context as mass production model which can supply the new demand of housing. but this diagram transcended to its purpose, its time and even its author. Born as result of a technological revolution in structural techniques, reinforce concrete, part of its success is due its simplicity. Le Corbusier's Dom-Ino seems a rather simple and straightforward statement. Perhaps for this very
reason (its apparently extreme clarity) it is often taken as an icon and a structural paradigm, an example of the potential of the then new technology, a prototypical unit
expressing ideas of mass production, repetition, and so on. (1)
