Family Services

We, the team of the Family Service of the University of Innsbruck, want to facilitate the reconciliation of work / study and family and are available to assist you in all matters relating to child, child care and caring for relatives.

After prior appointment, we advise and inform you about the different forms of childcare, legal matters and financial support for families and caregivers or refer to appropriate university and non-university institutions. We also provide various childcare services!

Flexible child-care in the SpielRäumen

In the SpielRäumen children (6 months to 10 years) of students and employees of University of Innsbruck can be looked after by qualified experts on an hourly basis – e.g. for attending a lecture or seminar.

Annually at the start of the semester - on the Open Day - interested parents have the opportunity to learn all about the offers provided by the flexible care institution, visit the rooms and get to know the personnel. Moreover, you can register your child(ren) for the SpielRäume on these days and arrange dates for the free familiarisation week.

The next Open Day will take place on 23 September 2019. We are looking forward to welcoming you!

Holiday care

We organise a week of holiday care during the winter semester break for children of university members from an age of 3-10 years as well as a varied 7-week holiday programme during the summer break.

This year’s summer holiday programme takes place from 15 July to 30 August 2019.

Babysitter Exchange

The Family Service offers an internal and free online babysitter exchange. This service offers parents a fast and uncomplicated means of contact with babysitters and also creates the opportunity to overcome a shortage of carers in the short-term.

Students can obtain a list with babysitters on request either by mail or they can pick it up at the Family Service.

UniKid-UniCare Austria

The Family Service of the University of Innsbruck exchanges with universities in all of Austria on topics relating to work-life balance via the UniKid-UniCare network. Among other things, the network aims at promoting cultural change to improve the balance of job/study and care responsibilities.

The last networking meeting, attended by 26 participants from 16 different universities, took place on 9 and 10 May 2019 at the University of Innsbruck.

On the website of the network, you will find a lot of relevant information and links: https://www.unikid-unicare.at.
