Abstract:
This talk offers a systematic review of research in Sweden on the relationship between class, race/ethnicity and educational inequality.
The presentation will be structured around four topics:
•Structures of the Swedish educational systems, before 1990 and after.
•Children of immigrants in Sweden
•How can explain inequalities?
i) The political arithmetic tradition
ii) Culturalism, discrimination and racism in schools
iii) School choice and school segregation
iv) Cultural and social capital and socio-historical contexts
•Conclusions and discussion
