Alex Putzer
Alex Putzer is a Researcher in the Rights of Nature within an urban context. He is doing a PhD at the MIT Leventhal Centre for Advanced Urbanism in Boston, USA, and Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy. He is a UN Harmony with Nature Expert and member of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature Academic Hub.
The most famous Rights of Nature initiatives are from South America and New Zealand. Europe has started to explore the idea as well. A reflection on global trends helps to understand the limits and potential of the local legal context, with a particular focus on Austria, Switzerland, Bavaria, and South Tyrol. It becomes clear that the malleability of the movement represents both its strength and weakness.
