Hypoplastic predictions of strength increase during episodic direct simple shear tests

Episodic loading and consolidation are important for offshore foundations. The clay hypoplasticity model with intergranular strain extension captures trends in void ratio and undrained strength during episodic loading. The collaboration aims to use this model to study the changing capacity of embedded anchoring systems for offshore renewable energy infrastructure. The future plan is to create 2D maps of changing soil strength around an anchor to understand the evolving soil response and anchor capacity.
