Constitutive models are typically calibrated using homogeneous element tests, assuming uniform behavior. However, recent studies reveal inhomogeneities in sand samples from the start of laboratory tests, challenging the assumption of homogeneous deformation. This research aims to understand the impact of inhomogeneities on strength and stiffness predictions. Laboratory tests will be simulated as boundary value problems using the finite element method with the hypoplasticity model.
