Astrid Schmidhofer (Project leader)

My name is Astrid Schmidhofer and I am originally from Linz (Upper Austria). After finishing my degree, I moved to Spain, where I lived for many years and undertook a PhD in Translation Studies. In 2013 I moved to Innsbruck, where I have been working as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Translation Studies, teaching courses in language, translation, interpreting, cultural studies, and translation studies. Simultaneously, I have also conducted research and published several papers and books. In order to further my research endeavours, I applied for an Elise Richter grant, which was awarded by the FWF in June 2021. Now I dedicate all of my time and effort to my main research topic, i.e. language competence of translators and interpreters, and my habilitation thesis. Other topics that I have addressed in my research include translation teaching, particularly in relation to machine translation, translation quality, and contrastive linguistics German/Spanish.  Jorge Luengo (Student assistent)

My name is Jorge Luengo. I am from Valladolid (Spain). I am currently living in Innsbruck, as I am doing an Erasmus exchange for a year. I study translation and interpreting at the Department of Translation Studies where I also work in the LANGTI project as a translator.

Melita Koletnik (University of Maribor)

I teach students of English translation at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University of Maribor in Slovenia. I joined academia from the ranks of professional translators and hold a PhD in Translation Studies from the University in Ljubljana, Slovenia. My research focuses on additional language teaching of future translators and interpreters, which I complement with specialized translation and terminology, but also with literary translation from Slovenian into English, where I am frequently aided by my students. The LANGTI team is my research family with each member adding their unique knowledge and experience to the table.

Enrique Cerezo Herrero (University of Valencia)

I hold a PhD in Translation Studies from the Universitat de València, where I currently teach various translation and English language courses in the BA in Translation and Interlinguistic Mediation and English Studies. In the research arena, my interests lie in the teaching of foreign languages for translator and interpreter trainees, translation pedagogy and plurilingual education. I have recently co-edited along with Astrid Schmidhofer the first collective work on foreign language teaching for translation and interpreter trainees, titled Foreign Language Teaching in Translation and Interpreting Programmes (2021), published by Peter Lang. I have also been Principal Investigator (PI) of two research projects on plurilingual education in the region of Valencia. (© Enrique Cerezo Herrero)

Alba Martínez Rico (Student assistent): September 2021 – August 2023

My name is Alba Martínez Rico. I am originally from Spain (Elche) but currently living in Innsbruck, Austria. Here, in the Department of Translation Studies, I began and finished my bachelor degree in Translation and Interpreting, and at present I am reaching the end of my master degree in Interpreting Studies. In the Translation and Interpreting department, I also collaborate with Astrid Schmidhofer on her project LANGTI on a range of diverse tasks regarding administration and organisation, research, translation, transcription, preparation of educational material, and editing of papers, among other activities.
