Content

This Master's Programme aims to enable students to analyze and design the sustainable digitization of organizations, markets, and societies. It qualifies for leadership positions in IT and digital management tasks. The programme promotes abilities to initiate, control, manage, and assess leading and innovative information and communication systems in organizations, thus achieving competitive advantages. Moreover, it imparts interdisciplinary skills and knowledge in combination with conceptual, methodical, and communicative competencies.

Curriculum

The Master's Program Information Systems offers a mix of management and computer science concepts and the development of skills and practical experiences with the application of the newest information technologies on real business solutions in small groups. Typical challenges are the value-oriented management of IT projects and IT portfolios, the creation of information infrastructures for knowledge workers, the horizontal, vertical, business process-oriented, and inter-organizational integration, or the development of IT-oriented business models and strategies. One of the main strengths of the Master's Programme is that courses in information systems, management, and computer science are taught by experienced faculty, which integrates a management and computer science perspective into the learning process. Other strengths of the program are the work in small groups, international case studies regarding information systems, the newest laboratories for projects of the students and advanced technology-based learning concepts.

Structure

The first semester is dedicated to harmonizing the students' potentially heterogeneous skill sets. Students with a management, business, or economics background are offered competencies in the IT core. Students with a background in computer science are offered competencies in the management core. Students with an information system background subscribe to the advanced modules in both the IT and management cores. The advanced modules combine concepts and methods for planning and controlling processes of value creation (Management perspective), methods and tools for the design of information systems (Information Systems perspective), and IT skills for the realization of these systems (Computer Science perspective):
