- Registration fees for Programme Country/European students: 4500 Euros per year

Student Scholarships
Course Editions starting in 2015 and later
A limited number of scholarships is expected to be funded through the new Erasmus+ Joint Master Degree (JMD) programme of the European Commission. Applicants that wish to apply for a JMD scholarship will have to state so in the relevant part of the AstroMundus application form. Students that already received in the past an Erasmus Mundus or JMD scholarship are not allowed to receive a new one. A student can submit JMD scholarship applications for a maximum of 3 different JMD programmes in the same academic year. Students who apply for scholarships through more than 3 JMD programmes will be excluded from the selection for a JMD scholarship. Details about the new Erasmus+ scholarship scheme are given at page 101 and 102 of the Erasmus+ Programme Guide and eligibility criteria are summarized at page 95-97 of the Guide. Additional conditions related to Master students are given at page 271-272 of the same Guide.
Following the Erasmus+ criterion of geographical balance, no more than 3 candidates from the same country (/with the same nationality) should be awarded an Erasmus+:EMJMD scholarship during the same intake. Students with a double nationality must specify the nationality under which they submit their scholarship application.
Scholarship holders must spend a period of studies in at least 2 Programme Countries within the AstroMundus consortium.
Because of the limited number of Erasmus+ scholarships, we strongly recommend that prospective students seek and apply for other scholarships that might be funded, e.g., by their own Country and/or Institution of origin or by other organizations.
Like for the former Erasmus Mundus programme, in the Erasmus+:Joint Masters Degree programme there are two categories of scholarships, as summarized below:
1. "Partner Country" student category (equivalent to the old "Third Country" student / Category A): These are intended for students coming from countries outside of the EU and associated countries (see "who" for a precise definition, including the "12-month-rule"). Scholarships in this category are co-funded by the EU through the Erasmus+ programme and cover:
- the registration fees, including a full insurance package;
- a contribution to travel and installation costs that amounts to:
2000 EUR per year + 1000 EUR (i.e. 5000 EUR in total) for students resident of a Partner Country located at less than 4000 km from the location of the course coordinating institution (for AstroMundus this is Innsbruck, Austria)
OR
3000 EUR per year + 1000 EUR (i.e. 7000 EUR in total) for students resident of a Partner Country located at 4000 km or more from the location of the course coordinating institution (for AstroMundus this is Innsbruck, Austria);
NOTE: The above mentioned distance to the student's place of residence is calculated using the "Distance calculator" available in the Erasmus+ website. The place of residence is verified based on the provision of the documents listed in the PRADO website of the Council of the European Union. Such documents (e.g. a residence certificate issued in accordance with the candidate's municipality normal registration rules, a certificate from the candidate's place of work, study or training issued by the employer or institution in question) must have been issued within 12 months before the deadline for submission of applications to the AstroMundus programme.
- a contribution to subsistence costs of 1000 EUR per month for the entire duration of the Masters course (24 months) excluding periods of study spent in the student's country of residence or in any other Partner Country.
2. "Programme Country" student category (equivalent to the old "European Country" student / Category B): These are intended for students from EU or associated countries (see "who" for a precise definition) or students who, at application time, had their main activities in one such country for more than 12 months in total during the last 5 years (12-months-rule). A limited number of scholarships in this category will be funded by the AstroMundus Consortium and cover:
- the registration fees, including a full insurance package;
- a contribution to subsistence costs of 500 EUR per month for the entire duration of the Masters course (24 months).
- a contribution to travel and installation costs of 500 EUR that may be additionally awarded, subject to availability of funds.
In addition to the above two categories, a limited number of partial scholarships (e.g. partial contributions to travel and subsistence costs, fee waivers, free meals and lodging during some semesters at the University of Belgrade or some combination of these various contributions) will be available.
Erasmus Mundus Scholarship holders are subject to special regulations, as in previous editions (see below).
Course Editions from 2010 to 2014
A limited number of scholarships will be funded by the Erasmus Mundus 2009 - 2013 cooperation and mobility programme, under Action 1.
Applicants that wish to apply also for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship will have to state so in the application form. No additional application is required. Students that already received in the past an "Erasmus Mundus" scholarship are not eligible for a new one. Also, a student can apply for a maximum of 3 different Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses starting in the same academic year. Students that apply for more than 3 EM Courses will be excluded from the selection for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
There are two categories of scholarships:
- Category A: They are intended as full scholarships and are reserved to Third Country students. Category A scholarships cover the registration fees (including the insurance), include a contribution to travel, installation and any other type of costs of 8000 €, and a monthly allowance of 1000 €/month for the whole duration of the Masters Course (24 months).
- Category B: They are intended as a financial contribution for European students or for students that have carried out their main activity in one of the European or associated countries for more than 12 months during the last 5 years. Category B scholarships cover the registration fees (including the insurance), include a contribution to travel, installation and any other type of costs of 3000 € (this contribution is provided only to students that will have a mobility period at the university of Belgrade), and a monthly allowance of 500 €/month for the whole duration of the Masters Course (24 months).
Not more than 2 students with the same nationality can be selected for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
Holders of Erasmus Mundus scholarships are subject to special regulations.
In particular, holders of category A scholarships can spend a maximum of 3 months (or the equivalent of 15 ECTS) at the University of Belgrade (provided Serbia is not their country of origin), since this is a Third Country partner of the Astromundus consortium. Periods in excess of this duration are not covered by the Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
Holders of category B scholarships can spend a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 2 semesters at the Third Country partner university (i.e. the University of Belgrade). Periods in excess of this duration are not covered by the scholarship.
All Erasmus Mundus scholarship holders must spend a period of studies in at least 2 European partner countries different from the country where they have obtained their last degree. This implies that scholarship holders who obtained their last degree either in Austria or in Italy must spend a period of study (at least 1 semester) in Germany. Because of the limited number of Erasmus Mundus scholarships, we strongly recommend that prospective students seek and apply for other scholarships that might be funded, e.g., by their own Country and/or Institution of origin or by other organizations.
Scholar scholarships
For Editions 1 through 5 of the AstroMundus Masters Course, a scholarship consists of a living allowance (including travel costs) of 1200 euros per week for a minimum duration of 2 weeks and a maximum duration of 3 months per scholar.
For Editions 6 through 8 (starting in October 2015), the scholarship amount will be established by the Consortium taking into account the duration of the mobility (minimum one week), the origin and the experience of the scholar. It will include a contribution to travel and installations costs and any applicable working fees.
Each scholar selected to receive a scholarship should come from a different higher education institution.
